Why chiropractic care for children?
Chiropractic care helps support optimal communication between the brain and body as children grow and develop. Difficult births, falls, and injuries can cause lasting neuromusculoskeletal issues, which may lead to bigger problems later on.
Just as a pediatrician performs wellness checks to monitor milestones and reflexes for healthy development, our chiropractors do the same. They can screen for issues such as tongue and lip ties, flat heads, scoliosis, posture problems, abnormal movement patterns, and more.
During an examination of children over three years old, our pediatric chiropractor assesses balance, posture, coordination, and tests reflexes. Depending on the child’s age, and always taking their preferences into account, adjustments may resemble those used for adults or may be performed using an activator instrument or a drop table.
Julie Nguyen is specially trained in evaluating and treating retained primitive reflexes, which can be associated with issues such as bedwetting, behavioral challenges, and difficulties with fine motor skills.

Newborns, babies, and toddlers
Even babies and young children can experience discomfort in their muscles, joints, or nerves, just like adults. Infants and toddlers adapt quickly and learn to avoid uncomfortable movements, such as not turning their head to one side or refusing tummy time. For newborns and infants, we use gentle, sustained pressure, light massage, and cranial techniques (no more pressure than you would apply to your own eyelid), with no cracking or popping.
For our more mobile babies and toddlers, treatment often takes place on a parent’s lap or while they play on the floor. Our mission is to ensure they are comfortable, have fun, and learn to enjoy visiting the chiropractor.
